Acrylic and Caran D'ache on Fabric mounted to Wood
14" x 11"
The surface is thirsty, pulling the paint into itself. Beginning with a fully loaded indigo brush, I made repeated rhythmic marks until the brush ran dry. In the process, I carved openings into the painting that became blue-black portals. Once these spaces were established, I built warm orange grounds that weave beneath and across the moving dark forms.
The weaving is not a metaphor. It is an actual layering process, hidden but real, that gives the paintings their structure and movement. This series holds my kinetic energy. Each mark records a physical action, a repetition, and a disruption. To break patterns, you have to break patterns. That is where this work is leading me.
